Stairwell window

We restore, reconstruct and manufacture artistic glazing for stairwell windows in order to preserve this special cultural asset.

Beautiful staircase windows are characteristic of old Berlin buildings and reflect the rich history and architectural style of these buildings. Staircase windows are often representative and decorated with ornamental elements that reflect the influence of styles such as Neo-Renaissance, Neo-Baroque, Art Nouveau and Art Deco.

Front building, side wing, garden house — all parts of the typical Berlin old building have a staircase and each staircase was fitted with richly decorated stained-glass, stained-glass and frosted glass at the time of construction. Unfortunately, many of these windows have disappeared in the course of history.

Many of them were destroyed during the two world wars, or were demolished and replaced by new buildings as a result of overzealous urban planning. The old buildings were neglected and in some cases left to decay.

Fortunately, a rethink began after 1990. Berlin's old buildings were recognized as particularly valuable structures and were extensively renovated in many districts. Our focus is on the restoration, renovation and new production of stained-glass for stairwell windows in Berlin.

When producing new windows, we follow historical models, implement our customers' designs or develop our own designs.

We use traditional techniques that are very similar to our craft from 100 years ago. We can also use materials that are true to the original, including table cathedral glass, genuine antique glass, opalescent glass and other historic window glass that is still produced in specialized manufactories.
