Resurrection window, St George's Church, Frankfurt (Oder)
We masterfully reconstructed this stained-glass window according to the historical model.
This expressionist church window was made according to a design from the archives of the company ‘Puhl & Wagner, Gottfried Heinersdorff’ from the 1920s.
It depicts Jesus Christ showing his stigmata after the resurrection.
The archive of the glass company ‘Puhl & Wagner, Gottfried Heinersdorff’, which was world-famous at the turn of the century, is stored at berlinischegalerie.de
There we were granted access to the original design, which was created for the Protestant Church of St George in Frankfurt (Oder). The window had been lost and the congregation had decided to reconstruct this expressive image of Christ.
In consultation with the parish, we produced a reconstruction of the stained-glass with glass painting based on this original design.
The production of stained-glass and glass paintings is an ancient art form and dates back to the early Middle Ages (9th century).
Coloured handmade glass is cut into individual shapes and painted by the glass painter in several stages. After each step, the painting is baked in a glass kiln at approx. 600° C to permanently bond with the glass.
We are also happy to advise you on your projects, on the new production or restoration of church windows.
