Church windows
We restore, reconstruct and manufacture artistic glazing for church windows with a wealth of experience and traditional craftsmanship.
Since the Middle Ages, church windows have been realised as artistic stained-glass windows. In no other building is the art of stained-glass so widespread.
This art form was actually born out of necessity. At the time, it was not possible to produce larger panes of glass to fill the large church windows. So a method was developed to produce small panes of glass, cut them into pieces and join them together using lead rods. The glass pieces were painted with black solder to achieve fine contours and plasticity. The lead mesh forms a graphic element.
In this way, an independent art form was created from an apparent disadvantage.
In our workshop, we produce each church window individually by hand. We support you with our own designs or realise the designs of artists. We can also reconstruct church windows based on historical models. Furthermore, we do everything from a single source, from measuring and production to installation.
The restoration of church windows is also part of our remit. War, environmental damage, vandalism, mechanical damage and the effects of the weather have all jeopardised these fragile stained-glass windows. Many have been destroyed, disappeared or damaged. Our task is to save these windows, preserve them and protect them for future generations.
We plan with the parish, church building authorities, sponsoring organisations, donors, monument protection authorities, architects or private individuals.
We are also happy to advise you on your projects and on the production or restoration of church windows in your parish.
