St. George with the dragon - stained glass with glass painting
Individual stained-glass made by hand
This stained-glass shows a depiction of St. George with the slain dragon, set in an architectural frame.
Size: 530 × 1100 mm
In principle, stained-glass of this kind is still produced in the same way as in the Middle Ages, albeit with the use of modern tools and kilns.
Colored handmade glass is cut into approx. 200 individual shapes and painted by the glass painter in several steps. After each step, the painting is baked in the glass kiln at approx. 600 °C to permanently bond with the glass.
- Application of the contours with black solder and contour brush.
- Application of the black solder coating, from which light edges, shading and damascening are worked out with a goose quill and stippling brush.
- Application of the stained-glass color “silver yellow”, which gives the glass a beautiful bright
golden yellow color after firing.
Finally, the individual pieces of colored glass are assembled with lead profiles to form a complete window picture.
The size and color of the stained-glass can be adapted to your wishes.
You can also commission the depiction of your own personal patron saint, another saint or a religious motif.
Optionally, you can receive a true-to-scale design in advance.
