Angel based on original design from the Middle Ages - stained glass with glass painting
Individual stained-glass made by hand
This stained-glass shows a medieval angel with wide curved wings carrying a candle, set in an architectural frame. The work was produced according to an original design.
Size: 420 × 1105 mm
The Gothic angel with the candlestick is embedded in an architectural frame that takes up elements of Gothic architecture. The typical colors of Gothic stained-glass - white, yellow, red and blue - are used.
In principle, such stained-glass is still produced in the same way as in the Middle Ages, albeit with the use of modern tools and kilns.
Colored handmade glass is cut into around 200 individual shapes and painted by the glass painter in several stages. After each step, the painting is baked in the glass kiln at approx. 600° to permanently bond with the glass.
- Application of the contours with black solder and contour brush.
- Application of the black solder coating, from which light edges, shading and damascening are worked out with a goose quill and stippling brush. This can be seen beautifully in the blue background of the angel.
- Application of the stained-glass color “silver yellow”, which gives the glass a beautiful bright golden yellow color after firing.
Finally, the individual pieces of colored glass are put together with lead profiles to form a complete window picture.
The size and color of the stained-glass can be adapted to your wishes.
Optionally, you can receive a true-to-scale design in advance.
